Is it just me

or does it seem like the right-wing/Fox News pundits have been recycling pretty much every (valid) criticism we had about then-President George W. Bush to attack & smear President Obama?

1. Taking too many vacations- Check
2. Not smart/incompetent/doesn't know what he is doing (show us your college transcripts!)- Check
3. Too divisive (this one actually makes me laugh out loud because it is so laughably false)- Check
4. "Out of touch"/living in a bubble/shielded from "the real world"- Check
5. Big Spender (singlehandedly driving up national debt/deficit)-Check
6. Pretty much everything that the teabaggers spew about President Obama seem, at least to me, to be valid criticisms of George W. Bush that they are consciously or unconsciously (probably a little of both) projecting onto Obama.

There's probably a few more I'm missing out on (feel free to add to the list). I know that they lie pretty much 24-7-365 about all manner of things (esp. RE: Obama) but these are the kind of lies- the ones that are deliberately (and very clearly) crafted for propaganda purposes- that REALLY get under my skin for some reason.

"I know you are, but what am I?" That's the level they operate on.

Like the way they live to call liberals racists... it's all projection.

I hear a LOT of Republicans using this "he's spending more time campaigning than governing" meme more and more too when, of course, that is ALL they are doing at the moment.

Not to mention the infamous "Bin Laden determined to attack the United States" memo that surfaced during GWB's first of those month-long vacations...

What did Obama take over Christmas? 4 days or so???

And summer? A week or less at Martha's Vinyard???

Grrrrr...

It's an old psychologic defense mechanism called Projection. Project your faults on to your opponent to put him on the defensive. Leave it to the right-wing noise machine to always put the Democrats on the defensive.

Accuse the opponent of doing exactly what you (or your own) has done.

For low IQ listeners (which is Fox's audience, by and large), they kind of remember that somebody created a huge deficit while in office. So Fox keeps telling them it's Obama, and eventually they say, "Oh, yeah, that's the guy I was trying to think of."

They can't criticize him for being too far to the left, so instead they just make stuff up.
I got to watch quite a bit of it over the holidays staying with relatives for a week. There was like a 30 minute segment talking about how much time President Obama spends playing golf. They seriously made out like he wasn't paying attention to running the country and he was just on vacation all the time, with hundreds of hours spent playing golf, with no clue what was going on. The ironic part: that was their guy Bush.

How did you manage to survive 30 mins (let alone a weekend) of Fox News? I can barely handle listening to 5 secs of their broadcast of their alternate reality show!

They use it all the time everywhere. Now that you have heard it... you will hear it all the time.
