The lack of critical thinking is scary. This morning I gave my wife this example.

We were talking about the school shooting and what can be done to protect our schools. I told my wife when someone shows up at a school with a military assault rifle it is too late. You have to stop them before they get there. She heard me but did not think it through. She said we need security guards and metal detectors at the schools.

I pointed to the bedroom doorway and told her to pretend the doorway is metal detector and there is a security guard standing next to it.

I charged at the bedroom door yelling, bang, bang, bang, very quickly. I looked at my wife and she laughed in embarrassment realizing her mistake.

So many Americans lack critical thinking. So many Americans believe life is like the movies. They believe a security guard will turn into dirty harry and save the day with one shot. They believe an armed teacher will turn into Rambo and charge the shooter and save the day.

This isn't the movies. An errant bullet could kill innocent students just as dead as the bad guys. It would have to be a clear shot, deranged killer and teacher, and the teacher would have to sneak up on them or the bad guy would have to allow himself to be shot. No kids in hallways, no obstructions. Teacher takes their life in their own hands. Teacher has to be willing to make the kill shot.

By the time we're having this discussion, it's already too late. We've been overtaken by an entity and its moneyed propaganda machine, the NRA running through the RNC.

4. Not to mention athletic events, cross country teams, field trips

Spend a ton of money to “secure” every last building in the country so the fields and streets in-between can be the Wild West?

Are guns allowed on school buses? Where are these CC guys supposed to check their guns when they arrive at the school or church or mall?

not to mention getting 3,ooo or so kids through a metal detector at the same time, without being late for class. Now add your scenario. All those kids lined up and waiting to get through the metal detectors and a shooter open fires.

The calls for metal detectors is kabuki theater.
