President Obama says "we've been waiting for you"

His tweet to the students:

"Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We've been waiting for you. And we've got your backs."

Wow. Now, that's a real president.

I'm so proud of those young people. The generation right before them were not very engaged politically, seems to me. But THIS crop of young people reminds me of the 1960s protesters. The ones who helped to end the Vietnam War, although it took years.

It amazes me that people are amazed that young people could be so articulate and vocal about an issue, so they must be actors, or someone told them what to say.

I guess once you're hunted down and have seen your friends blown apart, you grow up pretty fast.
