Hope Hicks' totally ridiculous explanation for why she quit

From Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

)Here's how Hope Hicks explained her decision to resign as White House communications director, according to The New York Times' Maggie Haberman, who broke the story:
"She told colleagues that she had accomplished what she felt she could with a job that made her one of the most powerful people in Washington, and that there would never be a perfect moment to leave."

Conclusion:

Simply put: This is a White House in crisis. Hicks' departure adds to that sense that the sky is falling around and on Trump. There's no spin to put out that. You can't polish a turd. And when you try to, it tends to get all over the place.

Oh yeah, nothing untoward here. Same old, same old. Business as usual. One of the most powerful people in Washington (that 75% of Americans couldn't identify) who has accomplished everything she felt she could accomplish. You almost expect to see her walking out of the White House with a pussy hat on, fist in the air, shouting "Girl Power!"

Perhaps in May rather than June? Sunny day, not too hot. Promenading at the park, near the bandshell from where we can hear some light jazz, maybe some gypsy swing, too. Families lounging on the grass, young lovers here and there, picnic baskets, blankets and kids running all about. A few folks fishing the nearby river and still fewer small boats drifting aimlessly downstream. Yep, Incarceration Day.

Holiday anyone?

She's lawyered up for a reason. There are probably some damaging emails she's authored.

Hopefully she is able to give Mueller some useful information. That's why I think she's leaving -- she's cooperating with Mueller's team.

She's basically turned against Trump because because she doesn't want to go down with him.

That means that she doesn't believe Trump can protect her so she has to protect herself. That's pretty telling. Even before he was President he was powerful and probably could have protected her easily. Very telling indeed.

She knows Mueller's coming and the "executive privilege" ploy won't work with him. Now as a civilian she won't even have to pretend to use it. She can just answer the questions and not worry that her boss will be pissed off at her.

English doesn't borrow from other languages.
English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over, and rummages through their pockets for loose grammar.

I was speaking with a Bulgarian cellist friend (we played in an orchestra together, and we were speaking Italian.) We were (as usual) bitching about the (new-to-us) conductor -- and I said to her: in English, we have this word, "mish-mosh..." She answered, Darling, we have that word in Bulgarian! I asked what it meant. She said, it's a way of throwing together a lot of food you have left over, I'll make it for you ... and I said: Exactly!

In the episode "End with a Bang" (Episode 113) of the Discovery series "MythBusters" that first aired on November 12, 2008, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman investigated the truth behind everyday sayings. They used the dorodango technique to create dung spheres in order to bust the myth that one "can't polish a turd". Using a glossmeter, they measured gloss levels substantially higher than the value of 70 gloss units which is considered "high gloss". Savage's 106 gloss unit dorodango used an ostrich's feces, while Hyneman's 183 gloss unit specimen used a lion's feces. They therefore deemed the myth "busted"
