Last week, in Parkland, Florida, after classes had resumed and news trucks had left, two sixteen-year-old juniors at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School sat at a dining-room table, in a gated community, trying to launch a movement. Adam Buchwald, stroking a precocious five-oclock shadow, pitched a visitor. We want parents to sign a contract, he said, promising their kids that theyll vote for leaders who put kids safety over guns. The contract concept had occurred to Adam and his friend Zach Hibshmanwho each knew two of the fourteen students killed at their schoolin the Buchwalds den, where theyd been hunkering down since the shooting.
Last Friday, we were just, like, Lets change the world, Zach, who was wearing gym clothes, said.
Our classmates marched in Tallahassee, which we think is great, Adam went on, referring to the #NeverAgain movement. But our movement will make a major change in future elections. - The New Yorker

These young people are new at this and they have a lot going for them...energy, passion, social media savvy, etc. But let's not forget these young adults still are students and must attend school, get good grades and this also takes time and energy. Those of us who have experience can help to assist and guide them but not overshadow them. We can vote and we can RESIST with them. Here is info about both gun control through legislation and through civil disobedience and protest.

This is about national events that are planned for the next two months (from a local paper but it is for National events).

Here are ways to act through our govt and legislation.
Enough Prayers. It's Time to Vote.
If you are sick and tired of the endless mass shootings that haven been happening in our country, there actually is something you can do about it. The reason that no gun laws change despite literally hundreds of school shootings, is that the NRA is lining the pockets of many of our representatives. If we want to see gun laws change, we must vote them out of office.

If you are repped by one of the GOP Senators or Congresspeople on this list, contact them today to tell them you will vote them out of office if they continue to take campaign donations or support of any kind from the NRA. And in the next election, do just that. You can also contact your reps to demand action against gun violence.
