Old hippie here...tell me about MIGOS...I was knocked out just looking at them last nite...

I know zip about rap. And could not decipher the lyrics..But, I could not take my eyes off of them...are they political at all? Apologize for frivolous question, but hey, it is the weekend on DU.

things where I would drive my mom nuts playing hip-hop now years later I'm shitting on it because if all the auto tune and that mumbling trend where they repeat one word over and over. Then the rest is the same "mumbly" style and cadence.

Based on what I've seen. They're as "political" as Britney Spears. And in their interviews come out sounding ignorant as fuuuuck.

The group's name is a reference to the Georgia drug trade, where a "migos" is an abandoned house used for production or consumption of drugs.

Nice role models.

in the early hippie days, we dressed like we were in movies....people put a lot of thought into costumes....cowboys, gypsies, fairy princess, dandies.....we used all the eras before us....we made clothing, jewelry, and even shoes...that is what I was staring at.....

I used the time that the rap group was performing to get ready for bed. My husband watched them and said he couldn't understand a word they were saying either. If they were making any kind of statement, it's lost on those of us who can't understand them. But then, rap is lost on me too.

....and some fairly recent instances, so the old "It was a different time" or "We were younger" don't hold water.

There is much better, lyrically, politically, etc. out there in the rap world.

Couldn't understand a word, why the sound 'changed' when they came on vs the standard sound of the show made me question whether or not they were really 'live'. Not sure why they're a thing but their affectation & look are contrived and played out and auto tune isn't talent.
