Russian Tycoon Deripaska Quits As Head Of Aluminum Empire

Was this the same guy that funded the "mercenaries" in Syria that attacked American forces? And did this have anything to do with Trump's plan to put tariffs on steel and aluminum?

Russian tycoon Oleg Deripaska is stepping down as the head of Russia's Rusal aluminum empire, weeks after he appeared on a U.S. list of tycoons said to benefit from their ties with the Kremlin.

Rusal and its parent company EN+ Group announced Deripaska's departure and other management changes early on February 23, saying they "would ensure additional synergy of the metallurgic and energy segments" of the company's business.

The company did not mention an investigative report recently published by Russian opposition leader and anticorruption crusader Aleksei Navalny that said that Deripaska hosted Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko for a lavish stay on his yacht.

The Navalny report on February 8, which was based on social media posts and photos provided by a woman who claimed to have had an affair with Deripaska, said the meeting was part of a growing body of evidence of corruption in Kremlin circle

Wilbur Ross recommended Trump impose the aluminum and steel tariffs they'd talked about for a long time, and about 5 days ago his surreptitious infiltration of the WH and meeting took place and Trump did. Between Feb. 12 and 22 Carl Icahn also dumped a bunch of steel stock.

I'm not even having a surreal moment over the fact that Wilbur Ross, who already had known connections to Putin's "circle," is our commerce secretary. Haven't had one in over a year.

and bigger. The more I read over time the more confused, though certainly certain names keep recurring among all the new ones.

I am wondering if the unraveling of Trump's administration is causing kleptocrats here and abroad to do some snatch and grab while they can. Or if this sort of thing was always planned. There're huge profits in disruptions for those who're ready for them. Building bridges and highways is for suckers.

not nailed down and hollowing out the infrastructure of Govt. and publicly held assets. It will take a generation to set this right.

Everything not nailed down means anything on the planet may be targeted for razing by these locusts.

I'm not sure about a generation. Germany built a thriving nation from the ruins of WWII in a generation. We know how and why we did it before. And institutions do get hidebound and can use some shaking up and improvement.
