There was something that bothered me, and maybe the Constitutional Scholars around here can help. Raising customs duties is one of the enumerated powers delegated to Congress.

Wouldn't that mean that Congress would have to raise tariffs?

A republican Congress?

The price of guns would go up.

1. Yes. But they will say these are tariffs, not taxes, and the Trumpers will believe it.

2. CNN just reported that Ryan isn't too thrilled with this idea.

The GOP knows that if blue collar workers' employers have to pay more for the imported products that the wages will be cut and/or people laid off and that amount of workers is far greater than the number of employees who would benefit. This will undercut the boosts that the Tax Scam, etc is supposedly giving to the economy for the working class voters.
