Would-be terrorist wins a Darwin award...

Blew himself up in his apartment in Beaver Dam.

Explosives experts will conduct controlled detonation at Beaver Dam complex

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (WBAY) - A team of explosive experts will conduct a controlled detonation at a Beaver Dam apartment building where an explosion killed a man.

Beaver Dam Police Chief John Kreuziger held a news conference Wednesday morning to provide an update on the investigation at 109 Knaup Drive.

Investigators have found "highly volatile homemade explosives" in the apartment. Kreuziger said chemicals in that apartment are too sensitive and unstable for officers to enter the unit.

Police are not ready to identify the man who died. He was the only person in his unit at the time, police say.

We can know the exact address, get a photo of the blown-out apartment windows, a full rundown of the law enforcement agencies responding to this little incident, but we can't know anything about what explosives were found (highly volatile) or the identity of the chap who punched his own ticket to the next world.

The story is still early, so details are obviously a bit sketchy, but I've already formed some opinions.
