Passing along a message from the NDRC (Arizona redistricting committee).

The NDRC was started by Eric Holder and Barack Obama to do something about gerrymandering, starting at the very most local levels. Here's an e-mail I got from them today.

But I've got to say, I don't see what can be done if the bill has already passed. Can someone explain that to me?

Arizona’s redistricting commission is the gold standard. It’s fair, independent, and creates districts tat allow every citizen to be equally represented.

So of course Republicans are attempting to subvert it.

Republicans in the state Senate have passed a bill that would stack the commission with political cronies and even allow the commission to be overruled. Packaged as “reform,” it’s actually a sneak attack on one of the fairest redistricting systems in the country.

Will you chip in to help NDRC fight back against GOP attempts to rig maps, in Arizona and nationwide?

This is exactly why NDRC named Arizona one of our eight 2018 Watch List states. We knew that Republicans wouldn’t be content with a nonpartisan commission. We knew they would attempt to subvert the redistricting process, just like they have in state after state.

And if they succeed, they will rig Arizona’s maps both at the Congressional level and at the state legislative level -- effectively destroying the fair representation that the commission put in place.

We have to stop them! Your generous donation will allow NDRC to keep up our fight in states like Arizona -- working both to fix rigged maps and to stop gerrymandering before it starts. Will you chip in right away?

Thanks,
Team NDRC
