John Ashcroft (former US attorney general) filed FARA for the nation of Qatar

Qatar, accused of supporting terrorism, hires ex-U.S. attorney general

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The government of Qatar has hired John Ashcroft, the U.S. attorney general during the Sept. 11 attacks, as it seeks to rebut accusations from U.S. President Donald Trump and its Arab neighbors that it supports terrorism.

Qatar will pay the Ashcroft Law Firm $2.5 million for a 90-day period as the country seeks to confirm its efforts to fight global terrorism and comply with financial regulations including U.S. Treasury rules, according to a Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, filing on Friday with the Justice Department.

“The firm’s work will include crisis response and management, program and system analysis, media outreach, education and advocacy regarding the client’s historical, current and future efforts to combat global terror and its compliance goals and accomplishments,” according to a letter by Ashcroft firm partner Michael Sullivan included in the filing.

Ashcroft was U.S. attorney general under President George W. Bush from February 2001 to February 2005, turbulent years in which U.S. policies and laws were reshaped by the so-called war on terrorism that followed the 2001 al Qaeda attacks.

Last night, I mentioned that John Ashcroft had filed FARA for the nation of Qatar. Let's talk about that more. It's huge.

You do realize that the nation's top law enforcement official has a sweeping security clearance that allows him access to our most precious secrets, right?

Once you've had a clearance of that level of access, your brain literally becomes an asset of the Nation. What you know from that job could be used to grievously harm America.

Not every top government job has such access to sensitive to information. SecAg gets some secrets, but not as much as DIRCIA. SecCommerce gets some, but not as much as SecState or DIRFBI.

Attorney General gets to work with DIRFBI and runs the National Security Division, which prosecutes espionage. Everyone works for POTUS (and the American people, first and foremost), but these jobs are really, really special.

Once you have that job - even after you quit - you are expected to maintain close contact with the government to report any activities by and with foreigners. Like, even if you're just going on vacation.

Once you have that job - even after you quit - you are expected to maintain close contact with the government to report any activities by and with foreigners. Like, even if you're just going on vacation.

See, we need to know if any foreigners are TRYING TO GET AT YOU. We generally assume that you, a highly-trusted patriot, would not BE ACTIVELY WORKING WITH OR FOR THEM. 😠

Perhaps now you understand why WHAT MIKE FLYNN, JOHN ASHCROFT, AND A SHOCKING NUMBER OF OTHERS HAVE DONE APPEARS VERY, VERY BAD. 😡

$2.5 MILLION FOR THREE MONTHS OF LEGAL WORK FROM A ST. LOUIS LAW FIRM SEEMS CURIOUS, WHEN IT'S FOR A FOREIGN GODDAMNED POWER, DON'T YOU THINK?

Lemme just put a fine point on it: if you have to report being chatty with Juan the bartender when you went to Mexico with your spouse, TAKING $2.5 MILLION FROM A FOREIGN POWER LOOKS SORTA SUSPICIOUS WHEN YOU'VE BEEN THE F**KING ATTORNEY GENERAL. 😡

GET MAKING SOME BIGLY SHOW ME BARRELS. I THINK WE MAY NEED THEM. 😠⚖️🇺🇸
