London, we have a problem.
Really, this article shows the disproportionate priorities of our governments and public opinion. It's a fast read.
Full article at Truthout/Buzzflash.
(PS ... give it like or something if you actually like it because it's my first article with them. Shameless, I know.I'll take down this plug if anyone objects.)

(221 posts)to places in Africa and Southeast Asia, this is a serious concern. Yes, the concept in the Western World of living in a bubble has become cliche - but it should go from cliche to urgent reality. We do have a problem. A big problem. And small money is not going to address it. It would be like giving NASA ten bucks to get to the moon.
And I hope that England is ashamed, even if it was partly in jest. Jest about a drought, since the jesting gets headlines.
And ... the shameless plug is pretty shameless but but it didnt bother me. It wad worth it to get me to the article and follow the links, which were not shameless just shameful.

Great article. I am concerned that so many folks are unaware or unworried about the water situation. I guess as long as it is coming out of their taps they aren't thinking about it. Even the situation in Flint seems to have disappeared from the top of the news, but the problem did not.
I appreciate you comparing this to the war on drugs. We have wasted so much money, time and lives on that mess. And for what? Making private prisons richer is all that seems to have come from that.
Air and water seem to be things we take for granted. We need to be thinking of solutions now so everyone on the planet has safe and easy access to water now and in the future. I just watched a documentary on Netflix about the water situation in California (don't recall the title!). Wow, what a mess!

(3,208 posts)I looked it up! They could probably do another one on desalination and how it wont be a thing because there is no profit in it!

(1,198 posts)I was wondering what the Netflix doc was called.
Also, thanks for your feedback. It's true -- we go though money as if we print it up (which we do) but when it comes to saving the planet the only conservation we make is not cutting down enough trees to print up more money to save the planet.
Not feeling very positive that it's going change. Doing a lot of work with social enterprises around the world, I have seen how the ones with these concerns are not funded. I've seen how the U.N. and State Department jump on real solutions and then get distracted because of internal squabbling. It's hard to watch.

very generous of you. Thanks!
And, yep, theres a problem a-brewing. To use the wrong cliche. Maybe a problem is evaporation.
