Hypocrisy on steroids.....
Evangelicals know theyre not compromising their beliefs in order to support this great president, Pastor Robert Jeffress said on Fox News Thursday. And lets be clear, evangelicals still believe in the commandment thou shalt not have sex with a porn star.
However, whether this president violated that commandment or not is totally irrelevant to our support of him, he continued.
Jeffress said evangelicals knew they werent voting for an altar boy when they voted for Trump and maintained they supported Trump for his policies and strong leadership.
The pastor, who oversees the First Baptist Church in Dallas, said evangelicals understand the concept of sin and forgiveness.

(6,916 posts)Thats why they like the president: for his fascist tendencies. Were seeing the evangelical goal revealed: control others, pursue money and power. Pence and his Christofascist movement are cut from the same cloth.
I never thought Id be saying that evangelical Christians cared more about fascism and control than they cared about Jesus. But its now demonstrably true.

(135,627 posts)As allegations of advances by Senate candidate Roy Moore on women less than half his age have peppered Alabama voters almost daily over the past week, Floyd is telling his congregation that Moore is an upright man who should be forgiven for his sins and elected to office.
Floyd, who for 34 years has been the pastor at Marvyn Parkway Baptist Church in Opelika, says his evangelical theology has not changed in the past two decades. Its just that he knows Moore to be a more moral man than Clinton was.
All of us have sinned and need a savior, Floyd said. Of course, moral character is still important. But with Bill Clinton or Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby, were talking about something completely different. You have to look at the totality of the man. Thats why I support Judge Moore. Ive prayed with him. I know his heart.

(28,270 posts)And I say that as a believer in Jesus.
These people want naked political power. Their moral bleating and holy playacting are just a cover to grab power over this country and everyone in it.
They are hardcore fascist and we better be aware of it.
Their near 100% backing of the most morally corrupt president this country has ever suffered under is all the proof anyone needs to know about the true goals of the religious/evangelical right.

as in France before the revolution.
The organized churches in this country are now taking food out of the mouths of hungry children, denying healthcare to the sick, oppressing and robbing the poor and punishing the stranger in the land.
The exact opposite of what Jesus told them to do. They are pious frauds.
They are fucking fascist bastards. If they back Trump and the republican party, the truth is far far away from their lyin tongues, that's for damn sure!

and they say they listen to God. No wonder evangelicals are losing the battle for believers. No one believes them anymore. Isn't it amazing that they always manage to pluck words out of the air to support their positions?
There are a hell of a lot more people I admire for their policies and strong leadership then this POS pastor and tRUMP. I don't know where this so called pastor got his learning from, but it's obviously a school for the blind and / or the deaf (no disrespect to any of our fellow handicapped DUers meant, 1 of you is worth 1,000 of tRUMP and Jeffress/jerkoff combined).

(611 posts)But its just his opinion. Trumps behavior cant help him any among Evangelicals. And if this guy prayed with Roy Moore, maybe he should go back to Alabama and pray with him some more. His work aint done yet.

(14,270 posts)This tribalism on steroids is inexcusable and demonstrates the antithesis of the values they claim to represent. Democrats cannot be forgiven and will burn in hell for pretend scandal like Pizza-gate, Benghazi, her e-mails. But Republicans get a free pass on all manner of proven corruption and lawlessness because God loves them more?

In over 50 years of tRUMP forcing himself on women you KNOW one or more had to become impregnated. Either there are lots of tiny handed tRUMPies running around OR he paid/forced them to have an abortion.
Hoping one of these exploited women will find the strength and courage to speak up. What will the F'n Evangels find to justify their great POS, er potus?

Religious community has totally adopted this God damn racists , I use to go to church a few years ago, I just looked over them , then. (8,311 posts)He fucking SAID IT HIMSELF.
He doesn't believe God has a role in forgiveness, refers to Communion as a "little cracker" (still love Samantha Bee's response to that), and even though the Presbyterian liturgy doesn't even have the Episcopalian version of confession (essentially Episcopalians say aloud in unison that we've all violated Jesus's two commandments and humbly repent) before Communion "feels cleansed".
The only gospel Trump supports is the Prosperity Gospel, and we all know it's just a pyramid scheme -- and that's why he supports it. His "faith advisor" was so anxious for money she said everyone should give her their entire January salary as a "first fruits offering".
Evangelicals might believe in God's forgiveness, but Trump doesn't.

(28,270 posts)The right wing evangelicals would have burned crosses on the white house lawn and called him satan in the flesh.
But Dump is a republican so all is well.
erpowers
(9,350 posts)President Obama did not say that, but they still called him Satan. I think the only reasons they did not burn crosses on the White House lawn is that there was a gate and they would have either been shot, or arrested if the trespassed on the lawn.
Do not forget the part about Trump being white. I realize they did not like Bill Clinton either, but I do not think they would be this understanding of a black male Republican. I think some evangelicals are also happy that Donald Trump has restored their view of racial balance. I am not sure evangelicals hated Bill Clinton as much as they hated Barack Obama. I do not see how President Obama was that much worse, from an evangelical standpoint, than President Clinton. Yes, President Obama supported gay marriage and gay rights, but it is possible that evangelicals hated President Obama even when he was not very supportive of gay rights. At the beginning of the administration President Obama seemed to be leaning against making a big push for major gay rights. In terms of President Obama's actions in his personal life, I would say President Obama was much better than President Clinton and yet Republicans and evangelicals criticized him on that issue also. President Obama neither entered office with a sexual/marriage scandal nor did he have one while in office or leave with a sexual/marriage scandal. However, Jeb Bush claimed President Obama was not doing enough to model family values to families, especially black families. Where are the Republicans claiming that Donald Trump is not doing enough to model family values to families, especially white families?
More could be said on this issue including bringing up the lack of criticism of the Palin family by Republicans even though most of those kids seem to be out of control. Is there are reason the Obama family endured 8 years of criticism although their kids seemed to either not get into trouble, or only got into minor trouble (Malia smoking an unidentified substance) while the Palins are not criticized even though more than one of their kids seems unable to stay out of trouble?
