“The lawyer, Emmet Flood, met with Mr. Trump in the Oval Office this past week to discuss the possibility… No final decision has been made.”

Key detail: “Mr. Flood would not replace Ty Cobb, the White House lawyer who since last summer has taken the lead role in dealing with the special counsel, Robert Mueller. 1. This kills me about Trump and the Oval Office

There's an executive office for him just off the Oval but my impressions is that he HAS to sit in the Oval, when he makes it to work, so everyone can see him. Traditionally the Oval is used for specific events including foreign visits, putting pressure on Congress, some photo ops sure, and some signings. Of all the things Trump has screwed up he has diluted the importance and relevance of the Oval Office - by his us not just because he is a joke.
