(5,210 posts)You've got some good people -- and some definitely not so good people -- but in strange combinations. I wouldn't want to see Andrew Cuomo anywhere. Not crazy about Corey Booker either.

(17,613 posts)...but to run against trump I want Kamala...just let trump pull some shit on stage with her. HRC was too constrained but wow Kamala will grab him by the Kahunas and escort him back to his seat then pat him on the head. "there there little fella"

Wouldn't mind Joe Kennedy in Adams place but it would be about our strongest ticket.

(1,119 posts)I want Adam Schiff to be a pain in Trump's rear for many years to come!

(1,009 posts)And how about Eric Schneiderman as U.S. Attorney General? Equally delicious. Although we'd need to replace his job with a very strong Dem.
Bob Mueller as head of FBI. If he pulls this off, well, maybe we should just let him pick his own spot.
Elizabeth Warren in some economic/financial capacity, because I think she could do well fixing the "rigged" system.

(17,984 posts)Warren as SOS. I'd like to see Harris become prez after Schiff. So 2028 will be Harris/Warren.

(17,984 posts)Either Harris gets a secretary job or remains a senator for the time being, but I want her as prez in 2028.

(67,776 posts)It was a controversy at the time, but since they were anointed, the press never pushed it.

(6,709 posts)imo being in the same line of "work" (the oil biz) should also be a disqualifier. But of course dishonorable people without morals or boundaries will always be able to work the system.

(14,565 posts)Better than I've seen elsewhere.
I don't have an ideal combo picked out, other than I want no part of Elizabeth Warren. IMO, her political instincts are terrible and she'd be easy prey for Trump.
Mostly I appreciate that the OP concedes that Trump/Pence will be the opposing ticket, and so far we haven't had any nonsense replies insisting Trump will be out of office, etc. That would not have been the case scant months or even weeks ago.
Always rely on big picture normalcy and not ridiculous projections based on overreaction to details and specifics. For more than a year we've had the opposite tendency here and elsewhere, somehow believing Trump will be ousted. In Las Vegas I always felt so sad for people who had to watch every game and fuel every subjective opinion. Invariably they had no chance in linking variables to outcomes. And the same holds true in politics. It is what Nate Silver calls the noise.

(5,126 posts)I've met him and met various family members. I've watched him work a room of Dems and work a room of mostly Republicans. He knows how to inspire those that agree with him and how to find common ground with those that don't. He is intelligent, grounded and hard working.
He is deeply patriotic but not in a nationalist type of way. He has a deep appreciation for history and what people have fought for and sacrificed to continuously work toward a more perfect Union. From the laborers that fought for better wages and safer work conditions, veterans who fought in our Country's name to the parents who scrimped and saved to give their children a better life.
He is liberal, progressive and conservative all at the same time, champions workers and veterans, minorities, lbgt and women, respecting religious beliefs and separation of Church and State and conserving natural resources and public lands while investing in infrastructure and strengthening entrepreneurship and small business.
Not to take anything away from the others mentioned, it is just that I know him better than the others. I trust him. I trust that he would run a smart campaign, and would lead our country with intelligence, empathy, and diligence.
It would be interesting to see how the "Rust belt States" responded to a Brown nomination (btw - he hates the term "Rust Belt" It would also be interesting to see how States like WV responded. Sherrod wears a canary pin on his lapel in honor of workers who fought for safer work environments. The canary in a coal mine that was lowered down to see if the air was safe for miners was the inspiration. His brother also served as AG of WV a couple of decades ago.

Thank you for a little backstory on Sherrod Brown.. I know nothing about him except I remember he's married to Connie Schultz
OhioBlue
(5,126 posts)about the 2006 campaign for Senate. They were newlyweds at the time and Connie wasn't really all that enthusiastic about her new husband (then a member of the House of Reps) running for Senate, but she thought of the greater good.. Anyway..fast forward to his debate at the City Club of Cleveland with then sitting Senator, Mike DeWine. They had both been through a very rigorous campaign schedule and nearing election day, were participating in a debate hosted by the most prestigious and televised venues in Northeast Ohio. As Connie and Sherrod were sitting in the Green Room, (after going through a crowd of supporters outside, shaking hands, and then through grooming for the cameras, Sherrod started to tear up... Connie asked what was wrong and Sherrod replied that he was just so overwhelmed thinking about all of the people that were depending on him, that had donated and volunteered their time, all the people counting on him to win and make a difference in the Senate.. Connie said she grabbed him by the shoulders and said the following words that she never thought she would say to her husband... "You have to pull yourself together or you are going to make your make-up run"
They are both great story tellers, easy to talk to, compassionate, and intelligent. Ohio is lucky to have them.
