Trump Is Remaking The Courts In His Image: White, Male and Straight

Even if we win in 2020 we are screwed because the real power is right here. Unqualified, whacky, racist, right wing judges. All those vacancies that Republicans held up. The Dems screwed up when they had the majority in the Senate. They should have pushed through Obama nominees like Republicans are doing now.

I remember reading somewhere that a number of Dubya's appointees left the bench because they decided that they'd make more money as lawyers, not as judges. The damage will be severe, but the good guys might find unexpected opportunities to replace "strict constructionist" reactionaries here and there.

whether they're white, male, or straight. This is a dumb article. She must love Clarence Thomas.

No more lifetime appointments.

District Court and Appellate judges: Mandatory retirement at age 70 or 20 years of service, whichever comes first.

SCOTUS: Mandatory retirement at 75 or 25 years service, whichever comes first.

For District and Appellate judges the service time would be cumulative, IOW if a judge serves 15 years at the District Court level and is raised to the Appellate Courts he/she can only serve 5 years. SCOTUS service time is solely their time on the Supreme Court bench.

Imagine knowing that Gorsuch will eventually be off the bench in your lifetime and it may happen during a Dem president's tenure.

On most issues, it is the lifetime appellate judge appointments that produce the biggest long term results. The SCOTUS doesn't take on that many cases each year, whereas the appellate courts put out a lot more decisions. While their findings are limited to their District and not binding on other Districts, other appellate courts will look to those decisions in the process of analyzing a case.

Appointing 35-year-old members of the Federalist Society insures conservatives control the legal dialog for the next four decades.

The racist Nazis want control of the courts - every judicial position is important. And they're gonna get it if we don't stop them. They want nothing less than authoritative totalitarian rule.
