(24,544 posts)This article is pretty informative on her role:
Specifically, Haspel was in charge of the CIAs Cats Eye, a secret prison located in Thailand. Haspel allegedly oversaw the daily torture of detained individuals at Cats Eye. According to media accounts and the memoirs of former CIA personnel, Haspel was personally involved in the torture of one Zayn Al-Abidin Muhammad Husayn, also known as Abu Zubaydah.
It's interesting that prosecutors in Munich are reviewing a request for an arrest warrant for her. That might put a damper on any enthusiasm to approve her appointment, or it might make them more gung-ho depending on how they feel about torture.
