Americans wishing this was their national anthem. They call it " Bad Ass" and from other postings of this song, wish Trump would adopt it as America's new National anthem.. WHAT THE FUCK is with these comments? Many of them might be Russian Trolls but, people claiming to be American and yet LOVE THIS NATIONAL anthem, not realizing the oppressive government under Putin or not caring about that, but would EMBRACE IT AS THEIR OWN.

(24,324 posts)I would say just ignore any of those comments about that video. These are not made by thoughtful, perceptive people.
Next, the lyrics you see in that video are NOT the lyrics of the present Russian Anthem. It IS, however, the same music that was used for the older National Anthem of the Soviet Union from 1944 until 1991 and written by Alexander Alexandrov (which was not even the first music used). There have been several different versions of the anthem used since 1944, different music, lyrics, contests to write new lyrics, etc etc.
If you like there is a very good history of it at WIKI, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_anthem_of_Russia
I WILL be honest and come out and say, this music just sends chills up my spine, and always has. Why? Even if I did not know what it was, it is just brilliant writing in a very characteristic Russian grandiose style. Listen to certain Russian composers Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Mussorgsky, Borodin, etc. So there is that.
I visited the Soviet Union a couple times, the last in 1985, and have been back to Russia since then a number of times, and have long been very fond of Russian music, dance, poetry, arts in general. I just love St Petersburg.
I am a musician, if that matters, and have a number of close friends and many Russian acquaintances some of them quite well-known international concert artists, some not sailors, dancers, IT guy, set-designer, etc.
The relationships are sometimes
many-sided. Let me just put it that way. But I have long held a certain interest in, sympathy and respect for the history of the ordinary Russian people and by that I include artists. Consider the hell Leningraders went through in WW 2. They suffered under two enemies Stalin from within and Hitler from without --- SOund familiar?
Sooo, when I hear this song, I also feel all that other stuff.
Several years ago I heard the A. V. Alexandrov Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Russian Army , otherwise known as the RED ARMY CHOIR, the one in that video, present a concert at the Mariinsky Theater Concert Hall in St Petereburg, where I have heard several other concerts as well as opera in the opera house.. I will tell you, Yui, it just blew my out of my chair (except I was standing, of course)
On the other hand, the anthem can meet with somewhat mixed feelings among certain Russians
. Complicated history
(This is the same group, BTW, whose plane crashed on Christmas Day 2016 killing 60 some members)
Anyway
. Thats my side of the whole thing
Hope I didn't bore you.

(41,831 posts)to the other side and oppose the United States and glorify the "great Russian government under Putin"... I am NOT objecting the music and the works of the composer, I do object to people GLORIFYING Putin and its RUSSIAN government and people WHO WANT THAT KIND of government under TRUMP right here at home.
The same very Americans who dream of a dictatorship in America so it will be strong and mighty in the world. THEY don't know how MUCH it would fucking suck...
