'We did it': Democrat Conor Lamb declares victory in Pennsylvania special congressional election in Trump country nail-biter

In a late-night speech before local supporters, Democrat Conor Lamb declared victory in a tight race against Trump-backed Republican Rick Saccone in a special election in Pennsylvania.
At this writing, Lamb leads Saccone 113,111 votes vs. 112,532 votes, respectively. There are more than 1500 votes that remain to be counted and no major news organization has declared a winner in the race.
Tuesday’s special election, which was convened to replaced former Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) after he was revealed to have asked his aide and mistress to get an abortion, was considered a final stand for the GOP as they struggled to maintain control of a district that President Donald Trump won by nearly 20 points in 2016.
