Why Lamb's win matters

A Democrat won in one of the most pro-Trump districts in the U.S.

He won back democrats who voted for Trump in 2016.

He won even with all that PAC money flowing in.

He won in a gerrymandered district favoring republicans.

He won even with Trump creating unnecessary tariffs to bribe voters to vote for him again via his surrogate candidate.

<...>

Lamb embraced Democratic orthodoxy on the new GOP tax law, hammering it as a giveaway to corporations at the future expense of Social Security, Medicare and the nation's fiscal security. And he embraces unions, highlighting Saccone's anti-labor record at the statehouse, which was a notable deviation from the retiring Murphy's status as a union-friendly Republican.

The AFL-CIO counts 87,000 voters from union households - around a fifth of the electorate.

What a blow to Trump's ego if Republicans start telling him, "don't come to my district."

After Trump tried to bribe them with tariff protections. Union members put country over jobs. Now Dems have to go back to supporting the unions.

Many Trump voters have gotten weary of the dipshit in chief and local elections are less partisan anyway.

And it's a reminder to our party to keep a bench of good candidates who can jump on an opportunity like this when there's an open seat. Republicans will always have scandals and resign in disgrace. It's in their nature. It's good to always be ready.

I am NOT repeat NOT putting down ANY democrat who wins a victory for our country, but you asked why Lamb's win matters, well.... it wont matter unless we follow up... Its a fantastic start, but we need to keep going, keep active, keep pushing..... celebrate today, but back to work tomorrow.

Democrat is a noun. Nouns do not modify other nouns as in "Democrat Party." This was started by Senator Joseph McCarthy when he was marginalizing Democrats as soft on communism.

It proves that no matter how much dark money parasites like the Koch brothers and the Mercers line up, we all still have a vote, and if we all use that vote in our best interest then we can begin taking back this republic.

27. Don't forget the Russian bots came out
Wed Mar 14, 2018, 09:50 AM
Mar 2018

Lamb faced long odds. The bots were out, but not as much as they were for other elections.

Here's the thing, the GOP still cheated. This was a 4-5 point victory in the polls, the GOTV effort was great for Lamb. Shenanigans occurred, we just aren't paying attention because he still won.

The Reps have control of the voting machines and take 3-5 points with those (probably the amount they think they can get away with). They also suppress another few points of the vote. And the Russian fake news bots give them another couple points or more if fully deployed. Jerrymandering in this district was good for 10 points.

These are the odds the Dems face. We have to run a campaign good enough to win by 15-20 points if all things were equal, just to win by 600 votes. It is a totally rigged system, but the people can defeat it if we work hard enough. Take back control and pass laws protecting the right to vote, pass laws to redistrict fairly, and pass laws that help fight the Russian takeover of the US Political System.

The greatest weapon Dems have is the Orange Blob in the Oval Office, tie him around their necks and throw them into the ocean.

That's how to win elections - focus on the issues and values of the district, not those made up by people a thousand miles away.
