1. There is nothing wrong with what Hillary Clinton said about the forces that drove Trump's victory, and if you see the press mischaracterizing or chiding her for them, it's because they're angry she isn't normalizing the reasons people voted for Trump.
2. Just so no one can deploy strawmen here, here are the comments from Hillary Clinton that have been repeatedly and willfully mischaracterized.
3. Hillary Clinton's chief charge is that Trump cultivated a resentment of "the others"whether "the others" are racial minorities or women (applies to undocumented immigrants and Muslims too)and won on that message. A wealth of knowledge gleaned since 2016 backs her up.
4. Look at the probability of voting for Trump when hostile sexism and denial of racism increase. This isn't a coincidence. http://people.umass.edu/schaffne/schaffner_et_al_IDC_conference.pdf
5. Furthermore, we know that racial resentment was a driving force underlying perception of how the economy was doing before and during Obama's presidency.

6. You're either mad at Hillary Clinton's comments because a) your baseline toward her was already irrational hatred, b) she's refusing to coddle you via ignoring the type of campaign Trump ran when you're used to being coddled by the press, or c) both of the prior reasons.
7. And the press, in particular, has been entertaining absolutely deranged mischaracterizations of what she said. Compare this tweet with the original comments. It's a willful mischaracterization, period: @CBSNews: "Hillary Clinton blames her election loss to President Trump on the "middle" of America, which she accused of "looking backwards"":

8. The Hill too. Again, look at the original comments. She absolutely did not say Trump won states that are moving backward: @TheHill: "Clinton: I won in states moving forward, Trump won in states moving backward":

9. We know why the press reacts like this; they wish she were running. They wish she were a candidate running for office. They miss being able to trash and mischaracterize her with abandon. When they get the chance to do it again, they go all in.
10. Well, Hillary Clinton is not running for office, and she isn't normalizing the kind of campaign Trump ran in 2016. If that makes you mad, it says everything about you.
