(29,674 posts)With tables set up for voter registration, handouts with election dates, candidates platforms and a letter from the entire school, signed by each student at the walkout and addressed to our senators demanding they enact legislation to keep them safe.

(14,827 posts)Beforehand, however, each student was required to write a letter to their state representative describing their reasons. My niece's 2-page letter made me cry. These kids are so freaking tuned in to current events and issues. Makes be proud.

I understand at one high school in PA, Council Rock North High School, actually had teachers blocking hallways at tables.

Sophomore, Madison LaFollette (Wisconsin) Met with other kids from Madison high schools and marched from East High (my alma mater) to the State Capitol.

(46 posts)Oldest is a sophomore at a high school in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
Youngest is in 8th grade-her middle school allowed the students to meet in the cafeteria.
Very proud of both of them.
