Marist Poll: Americans support student walkouts

Students across the nation walked out of classes Wednesday in protest of gun violence. And, more than seven in 10 Americans said they support the students’ right to do so, according to a Marist Poll.

Across the country, 72 percent of adults polled, and 58 percent of gun-owning adults, said students who participated in the ENOUGH: National School Walkout should not face disciplinary action by their schools.

The walkout was held on the one-month anniversary of a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in which 17 people were killed.
