Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDear Hillary Censors: Please advise when Hillary will be allowed to speak her thoughts out loud
After this November? Or does she need to wait until after the 2020 Presidential Election? But there will be elections after that and it's possible that if she speaks then, she still might offend a Republican voter sometime in the future, so maybe she'll need to wait longer.
So please let us know when Hillary will be entitled to speak.
Thank you.

(9,527 posts)Obama talked about people clinging to their guns and religion. Also a dumb statement. That happens. I've said things far more stupid. Neither is a big deal, especially compared to the overall contribution of her words/actions in public life. This is a nothing story and should be treated as such, both by her detractors and by her supporters.

(29,699 posts)since she's not running for any office again ever, she gets to speak her truth. Or is there a special Hillary rule?

(50,934 posts)Obama made a true but not flattering statement as a presidential candidate. It might have cost him votes.
Hillary made a true but unflattering statement as a private citizen. There was nothing dumb about it and there is no reason why she should not make such statements. People really need to get over the idea that she owes kid glove treatment to trump voters. They also need to get over the idea that she owes silence on the truth to Democrats.

The irony of this faux outrage at something a private citizen has said, while there is no outrage when sanctions against Russia aren't implemented. There is no outrage when Arkansas joins the increasing number of other red states to require proof of employment in order to qualify for Medicaid.
Trump LIES on an almost daily basis, yet the media refuses to call a liar
Where is the outrage

It's not fair, in fact it's horrible. But the GOPers won by doing it. They'd LOVE to keep using her as GOP public enemy #1
EffieBlack
(14,249 posts)because she's a threat to them.
And if she didn't exist, they'd oppose the next person who is a threat to them.
Do you really think that if, for example, Bernie or Biden had been the nominee, they wouldn't have ginned up something on them and chanted "Lock him up" - or worse - at their convention?
But by all means, lets drive away our most effective leaders because the GOP doesn't like them.
leftstreet
(36,102 posts)Not after what's happened
And no, it's not fair. We haven't seen (nor probably ever will see) a POTUS candidate as qualified as Hillary.
She can be an effective leader in many areas - but not politics
EffieBlack
(14,249 posts)I certainly didn't. But not because she can't - because she obviously doesn't want to now.
But Hillary can be anything she damned well pleases and doesn't need your, my or anyone else's permission.
So, please, just stop.

Its the same as with Bernies followers who are Democrats. We need to be inclusive to all of them.

(7,947 posts)Super-thanks to everyone who votes Democrat! That is, we should pay more attention to US-- the Democratic base.
Then we should say, "Hey, Trump voters. If you ever want to vote in your own interest, well, Democrats want to help you stay healthy and train for the jobs of the future and protect your streams and fields and educate your children and take good care of your elderly relatives. Come on over-- the water's fine. The BLUE water."
If they want to vote for people who mean to hurt them, well, there's really nothing we can do to stop that, except remind them that Democratic policies are good for the country. Lying to them, well, that's the GOP way, and shouldn't be ours. If they want to be lied to, they'll vote GOP.

What exactly was her takeaway supposed to be from this experience? STFU, little lady? What?
What is your takeaway from all this? That we should let the fucking GOP pick our candidates for us? (Oprah's the most beloved and popular woman on the planet and Trump is already smearing her and inviting her into the gutter with him. She's not running, but some idiots put it into his head that she might and he is having a field day.)
Anyone who lets the GOP smear machine pick and choose our Democratic candidates for us is an utter fool. I've read it right here that Pelosi, another woman they love to hate, should be dumped by the Dems because she's "polarizing," when in fact she is incomparably skilled at holding together the Democratic caucus.

(41,971 posts)There is no value in chasing down the votes of bigots. Of Black women who voted, 94% voted for Hillary Clinton a stunning statistic. The votes were not because of a love of Hillary Clinton, but because she was the best option. Black women mobilize themselves.
Fuck chasing white angst voters, its time to move on to the future.

(4,908 posts)I think she was not using anything close to rhetoric that was going to get states that voted Dem before to want to do it again. Specifically I was talking about Wisconsin which I know the most about. It's all there for you to read if you wish to disagree with anything I've said. But telling Wisconsin they are "backward" and don't like blacks and women having rights isn't going to turn Wisconsin blue again.
