Kellyane Conway: Tearful cafeteria worker says "THANK YOU for my tax cut!!!"

As an example of Trump taking his message directly to the American public, Conway pointed out that the president went to Missouri and “heard first-hand from people, including a tearful cafeteria worker saying, ‘Thank you for my tax cut!'”

Host Steve Doocy seemed a bit taken aback by Conway’s criticism and pointed out to her that, while Fox News does focus on policy issues, there has been a lot of turnover at the White House in recent weeks.

“This has been a big week for personnel changes,” Doocy said. “That’s why there’s this speculation.”

“The president has this right!” Conway insisted.

Maybe 1 in five will pay more, bunched in States with high state and local taxes.



Of course we will pay for these cuts with borrowed money, bigger deficits. I wish people understood that the real tax rate is basically the amount govt spends. The tax rates just determine when it will be paid, now or later.

But cutting taxes is a political winner in the short term, and when the bill comes due someone else will be tagged with the political cost.

Is it possible to explain that to voters? I don’t know.
