It's great to see a fellow human being return and excel at what he/she does best. It creates hope for others.

(14,565 posts)He was hospitalized and had only days remaining. I asked him what he wanted me to root for --- sports wise --- after he was gone.
Dad was disgusted with Nicklaus for his politics and how he refused to even call Obama by name. I'll never forget how dad's facial expression got serious and the first thing he said was, "Root for Tiger to break Nicklaus' record."
He used some negative term for Nicklaus during the remark, but I can't remember it exactly. I was semi shocked at the comment because dad had never been a huge Tiger fan. But it was an election year and every four years he hated that Nicklaus and Palmer would stump for the Republican nominee, and that Nicklaus was particularly vocal about his beliefs.
