Trump is now comfortable with ousting McMaster, with whom he never personally gelled, but is willing to take time executing the move because he wants to ensure both that the three-star Army general is not humiliated and that there is a strong successor lined up, these people said.
The turbulence is part of a broader potential shake-up under consideration by Trump that is likely to include senior officials at the White House, where staffers are gripped by fear and uncertainty as they await the next move from an impulsive president who enjoys stoking conflict.

Are you ready? Hey, are you ready for this?
Are you hanging on the edge of your seat?
Out of the doorway the bullets rip to the sound of the beat, Yeah
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone
And another one gone
Another one bites the dust

(6,288 posts)Can a sitting President be removed during wartime?
Anyone know the law on this?
Hermit-The-Prog
(33,328 posts)Since this House of Representatives has a majority comprised of co-conspirators, impeachment has next to no chance before 2019, and then only if we take back the House. The Senate likewise is majority co-conspirators, so there could be no conviction before we take that back as well.
This may be the beginning of the shit-storm I warned my children to expect after the 2016 "election".
Wwcd
(6,288 posts)But I wondered if the 2018 election brings that change & makes impeachment a definate & quick reality for Trump, woul he create a war to save himself.
I'm not sure on the law thay may state that a sitting President cannot be impeached during wartime.
I recall hearing about this sometime ago but don't eemember if it is a law trump would use to save himself or if it was more of an accepted protocol to prevent further chaos in the govt, in a time of war
Have I confused the simple question or made it clearer?
Lol..i can do that from time to time..
Thanks

(33,328 posts)The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and here's what it says:
The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articleii
Note there is nothing said about when impeachment may be brought.
The House of Representatives shall choose their speaker and other officers; and shall have the sole power of impeachment.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articlei
The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present.
Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law.

(33,328 posts)Best I can tell the House can vote for impeachment any time they want.
Let's just hope they want to do it before TrumPutin gets us into a war. (He can't declare one, but he could sure get us into one with some stupid move).
Every soldier has a duty to disobey unlawful orders, but that's not enough to save us from that spoiled brat.

(48,970 posts)circulating for quite a while. Along with stories that several other top officials will be out soon.
It's simply incorrect to say that McMaster is out, at this point.
As for Trump having "decided" to remove him -- how many times have we heard these stories about McMaster and Kelly and Sessions and other officials?

This is a nightmare. He's just playing a game, like his reality show. Hire this one (with no aforethought or analysis), then fire him. Fire someone else...then hire someone else. Then fire someone else, but let her "resign." Then fire someone else.
A nightmare.
