General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWe cuss and discuss. We argue what this comment means and what that comment implies. Outrages are
compared and nuances are measured. I wonder if we aren't ignoring the obvious and unintentionally patronizing the "bright shiny object du jour" merchants.
Here are some FACTS that sometimes seem to get lost in the shuffle:
We have permitted a totally incompetent and mentally unbalanced individual to squat in our White aHouse.
That pretender received nearly 3 million fewer votes than his opponent, the most qualified candidate for POTUS in our lifetime.
He has filled the White House and his cabinet with a rogues gallery of criminals, neo-nazis and grifters unparalleled in our history.
The "man" has absolutely no conscience or sense of shame.
As the nation struggles to make sense of the chaos he had unleashed on us, he plods on, appointing idiots, racists and thugs to positions ranging from deputy secretary of state to Supreme Court Justice.
We have no Congress. The GOP majority sees their political survival as inextricably linked to the survival of Donald Trump.
The pretender-in-chief has openly discussed becoming "President for Life" and had displayed outright contempt for laws, rules and customs previously considered inviolable by all prior presidents.
Time is not on our side and the majority of our countrymen are more interested in "Dancing With the Stars" than the collapse of our democracy.
It's time to cut the crap, stop all the dithering and mental masturbation an get off our collective asses and ELECT A DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY IN BOTH HOUSES and, for the sake of our nation, our democracy, our children and grandchildren rid ourselves of the Lord Of The Cockroaches who defiles our national reputation and fouls the very air we breathe!
The rant light is off.

(3,335 posts)Congress is just as weary as the rest of us. I would think that everyone in the WH has to be exhausted by now. In spite of what the Dotard says, everyone doesn't want to come work at the WH. There's a difference between taking a tour of the WH and even the Oval Office, should one get the opportunity, but nobody want to work in an insane asylum on a daily basis and that's what the WH has become.

(81,085 posts)that they were wrong. Or even worse, that they've been HAD. You have to be VERY honest, VERY realistic, and VERY grown up to face that full-frontal. NOBODY wants to look like a sucker or a patsy. And that's what they ALL are. They ALL fell for it. They swallowed it whole without even bothering to chew. They all hitched their wagon to an anvil. And when nothing works and the damn thing won't move, well, somebody's gotta be blamed but you bet your sweet patootie it won't be them. Even when we all know it IS.
There are millions of suckers in Dumbfuckistan. And they've hitched ALL of us to a cheap orange-colored anvil. And they'll go down with the ship just rock-solid-certain that they did nothing wrong. Never mind that we all tried desperately hard to warn them that the fancy-looking ship they boarded had a bottom full of holes.

(33,236 posts)When you say, "[g]et off our collective asses", do you mean that literally? 'Cuz I'm tired right now. Are you sure you're not expressing some kind of political class privilege? Don't you think we should learn to understand those who, because of various and sundry anxieties, don't really want to get off their asses? How do you expect to ever win an election again if you alienate the ass-sitters with your completely tone-deaf, shrill, and insensitive demands?!? You're just being an anchor not a sail with this indefensible attitude.
I would love to continue measuring this here nuance with you, but a shiny nit just crawled out of the woodwork. It would be irresponsible not to go pick it.
(Will that switch the rant light back on? )
