First-of-its-kind pedestrian bridge “swings” into place. “FIU is about building bridges and student safety. This project accomplishes our mission beautifully,” -President Mark B. Rosenberg.

Those structures are so substantial but they are also classy looking. It was the same concern...very dangerous for pedestrian traffic to cross such a busy street. Initially I hated it because I used to sprint back and forth across the Strip all day long scrambling for sports bets. I seldom used a traffic light or even crossed at those areas. But eventually I conceded the necessity, and now newcomers to the city find it difficult to believe foot traffic was ever allowed to cross on ground level.

There are stairs and escalators. In bad weather the escalators are sometimes closed temporarily.
