Caterpillar's latest restructuring move could cut 880 jobs (Thanks Trump!)

Caterpillar's latest restructuring move could cut 880 jobs
Rajesh Kumar Singh MARCH 16, 2018 / 10:49 AM / UPDATED 4 HOURS AGO

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Caterpillar Inc (CAT.N) will close two facilities in Texas and Panama and is also considering shutting its engine manufacturing plant in Illinois as part of a strategy to boost profitability and better handle business cycles, but the move could cut 880 jobs.

The plant closures, which were announced internally over the past two months, were confirmed to Reuters by a company spokeswoman on Friday.

The world’s largest heavy-duty equipment maker emerged last year from the longest downturn in its history, when sales dropped more than 40 percent between 2012 and 2016.

The plant closure news comes as some U.S. manufacturers are grappling with President Donald Trump’s decision to impose import duties on steel and aluminum imports, which is expected to inflate input costs for equipment makers like Caterpillar.

When we figure out how to "demand that public funds buy American Industrial Equipment" companies like this won't suffer.... Look around your city... and take not of how many "foreign made tractors cut grass" and how much "foreign made equipment is used to do city services construction work"... Then ask yourself "Why"???

HARSH REALITIES

Answer:
When we whine about paying taxes, we force our cities and municipalities and every element of government to go out and buy "foreign made equipment". Then we cry when we loose jobs.

We keep shooting ourselves in the both feet, and wonder why we can't walk.

When Retail Housing Prices Skyrockets, we refused to increase property tax in millage relation, yet, the higher income earners who bought those higher priced homes, also "demand" more city services, but they don't want to pay any higher property tax to get those enhanced and elevated services. Then we are forced to neglect areas of the city that housing did not excessively escalate, and we go out and buy foreign lower cost equipment, to provide increased service to those Higher retail commercial sales prices and the demands from those who buy them.

We make our problems... but we won't think it through to grasp the truth about it.

HARSHER REALITIES (things many never have ever wanted to think about)

What people fail to realize is... Long ago.. when this nation had Slavery, Slaves were TAXED 100% and it was easy to keep the tax low for white communities and provide public services and many other things, and then during Segregation, Blacks were Taxed, BUT not allowed to even use the things their Tax Money contributed to pay for, and no tax money was to be spent on anything that concerned blacks or black communities.

Now, that equality exist, and NO MORE 100% TAX on people as Slaves, and NO more Segregation where black tax money went to make sure white societies were well kept... So... people complain about paying taxes, because by historical function, they never had to think about... these things... many just considered that's how its suppose to be...

But.. Now... when it time for people to pay the taxes they should have paid all along, they think they are being ripped off.
Well, what do you think Slaves thought? and What do you think black people thought, for a 100 yrs of segregation where their tax money serviced white society to keep white societies taxes low. We hear right winger always "talking about my tax dollars", but what they are really saying, is they don't want any of their tax dollars to go to anything that benefits minorities. This was even more Overt in the Jim Crow South, but it has not changed in the ideaology of a great many people. And many have not thought about it as being wrong, they just figure that's how it use to be, and they expect it to remain moving along the same. "one has to think about such things, because of the reality of the history that our present day, is derived from.
These "harsh things" people do not care to consider or think about", but these are things that can't be neglected and they can't be considered or ignored as being factors, in learning how to fix our national, and civic issues.

Some may detest this content even being discussed, but we can't move where we as a society needs to be until we face these harsh reality of the history that made what is today.

People don't think things through.. the History of A Nation, nursed and groomed on Slavery and All that it Provided, has never cared to think about such things in such realistic terms. Nor did people think about it, during Segregationist Times.

Now, during the period and times of "Equality" they don't want to think about it, because they don't want any of their tax money to go to anything that benefits the same people, They themselves and their Ancestry Benefited off of for Centuries and Decades.

YES, There is truth to why the madness and decline of America continues. And It's because of "American People"... who have never FULLY EMBRACED THE BROAD SPECTRUM OF WHAT "EQUALITY TRULY MEANS" ACROSS THE BOARD AND WITHIN ALL OF SOCIETY AND OUR SYSTEMS OF COMMUNITY AND INDUSTRY.

We will continue to defeat ourselves as a nation of people, until we have these conversations, and come to terms to truly respect the basic of "Equality" because "Equality is the foundation that supports the Democracy we claim ourselves to be?.

Its time we awaken and face truths we have avoided, and think beyond the self concerned manner of historical grooming, and think in terms to see and respect and support the premise and fact that "ALL American People Are Equal"... THEN we can get on to fixing "every type of problem that plagues us"... but that won't happen until we meet the mandate of Step One.

See, most people would not think of such thing as being connected, because we've been groomed to have a short attention span, and the delusion that we don't have to think about stuff, that its someone else job to do so.

We have much work to do in how we move forward as being American People within a System of Democracy.... We first have to see, consider and know that we are all "Equal as being American Citizens". That's "Step One"
