He says he's a news editor, or journalist. But yeah maybe he'll run for president of his own country.
He's making the point that people from "shithole" countries are still of high quality.

That there is nothing wrong with the people of "shithole" countries-if they are shitholes it is at least in part because their government is stupid or corrupt. And that he puts our country in danger of becoming a shithole.
