(146,254 posts)You can see which states are OK with first-cousin marriage and which are not at the link I provided. Worldwide, it's a pretty common practice, and medically doesn't really pose much risk for problems, as has been learned through research.
You think it's not OK. So, I recommend that you not marry a cousin. Otherwise, I can't see how its any more our business than people getting married who are same-gender persons. Many people think that's not OK, but it's certainly legal in the United States finally.
I never considered marrying any of my cousins. I rarely even saw them, frankly. I did kiss one cousin a few times when I was a teenager, though. I don't remember any particular feelings of guilt about that.
Apparently you get skeeved out by cousins who fall in love with each other and want to marry. None of my business, I figure, really. If it's legal for them to get married, then why would I have any objections to that?

(19,945 posts)Mike Pence's people are from, there was a helluva lot of cousins marrying cousins. Not sure if it was the basis for an SNL skit though.

I guess being offended is ok for some people but not others ...
(This is not a knock on you. Just an observation about the different kind and tone of responses to someone saying they are offended by something they found insensitive)

Weekend Update is always good but sometimes meanders down the silly. But you can always count on that.
So see you won't be disappointed if you just lower your expectations.
I've also seen some musical acts that I did not know and enjoyed...so that is always a plus. I guess that means
I'm gettin' old.
