....
For those who knew something of Kushners pre-election career, this portrait of him as some sort of analytics genius was befuddling. The small, gossipy New York newspaper hed owned, The New York Observer, didnt even have a particularly good website. He wasnt tech-savvy at all, Elizabeth Spiers, the papers former editor in chief, told me.
Cambridge Analyticas corruption helps provide the missing piece in this story. If the Trump campaign had a social media advantage, one reason is that it hired a company that mined vast amounts of illicitly obtained data.
Theres a lesson here for our understanding of the Trump presidency. Trump and his lackeys have been waging their own sort of psychological warfare on the American majority that abhors them. On the one hand, they act like idiots. On the other, they won, which makes it seem as if they must possess some sort of occult genius. With each day, however, its clearer that the secret of Trumps success is cheating. He, and those around him, dont have to be better than their opponents because theyre willing to be so much worse.

(53,764 posts)since Nixon's underhanded deal re: Vietnam. Reagan also committed treason to win. W and his posse cheated to win both terms, and trump's corrupt crew took cheating and treason to an international and technological level with our nation's long avowed enemy.

I actually think Cohn would have taken it further. Trump probably recognized that after the election and was annoyed at himself, hence the uptick from 4.9 lies per day to 6. He's like a golfer sinking more putts per round.
