The Wielding Truth
(11,415 posts)Thou shalt not bear false witness forbids: 1. Speaking falsely in any matter, lying, equivocating, and any way devising and designing to deceive our neighbor. 2. Speaking unjustly against our neighbor, to the prejudice of his reputation; and (which involves the guilty of both).

That's the one that is the most blatant.

(22,029 posts)...his "followers" would be the ones to crucify him.
Jesus' teachings weren't an issue for the Roman Empire and Pontius Pilate didn't even want to deal with Jesus. He found no fault in Jesus. But Pilate was forced to "wash his hands" by the religious establishment, the Sanhedrin, a group of Jewish leaders who perceived Jesus as a threat.
Jesus said things that totally threatened the power and wealth of the Sanhedrin. If Jesus were teaching today, would Franklin Graham, Rick Warren or Joel Osteen represent his message? Would they embrace Jesus who opposed their type of behavior during his lifetime? Or would they act like the Sanhedrin?

(8,922 posts)There is nothing remotely biblical about their ideology or their lavish lifestyles. They are stench to the teachings and example of Jesus provided in the New Testament. They represent the false teachers Jesus warned about following. Their misguided followers behave as modern day Pharisees when they go to the polls and vote for politicians that promote greed and hate.

(40,205 posts)He is a film flam man. He is a huckster and a con man. These people who claim Jesus talks to them are full of shit. Anyone ever notice how Jesus doesn't talk to scientists, Nobel laureates, and people known to be sane? He only talks to people who make money from getting the sick, the elderly, the lonely, and the poor to give them money. Oh, and he talks to Mike Pence.

Lust? Stormy Daniels and others, and grabbing....
Envy? Barack Obama's inauguration crowd?
Greed? The Trump Organization and Russian money.

The evangelical right sold it's soul to the republican libertarian NRA devil in exchange for worldly political power and $$$ which is their true god.
They are massive frauds, period.

(99,710 posts)There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Trump checks off at least six of the seven boxes.

(6,278 posts)I watched the clip Josh Marshall posted and as much as I detest Franklin Graham, I heard nothing that sounds remotely like what Marshall is claiming. Graham just said that the sexual scandals (Stormy Daniels, etc.) all date to before Trump's days in office. He does say rather unconvincingly that Trump has changed, but at no point does he declare that Trump has never "sinned" as president. We have way too much genuine right wing bullshit to fight without making stuff up (which I believe characterizing Graham's words this way is).
