The media keeps calling this a data breach. "Data breach" isnt a tenth of the story

This was about analyzing the information of the 50 million stolen accounts until, as whistleblower Wylie said, CA knew the FB user more intimately than anyone else in the world. They knew the users’ neuroses and fears and paranoia, even when the FB user himself or herself did not.

And it wasn’t about anyone “falling for ads”. Part of the CA analysis was to learn how each user would best receive information, i.e, through blogs or websites or friends reporting information. Wylie describes then setting up bogus blogs and websites and seeding bogus “friends,” and funneling each user to the path that would most efficiently change the user’s opinions and change their vote depending on their profile of fears and anxieties. CA’s bogus videos were watched 30 million times.

The users didn’t have any way to know it was happening. It was as if every one of the many links we follow here on DU was designed by people who were adept at psychological warfare, who knew which of our buttons to push and how to maximize our fear and discomfort.

The increase in hatred, fear and neurosis we are seeing is no mistake. It was manufactured.

If a data breach is a drop of water, this was the Mississippi.

'data breach' suggests a possible "OOPS! Sears stores accidentally got hacked for credit card numbers." We're accustomed to that

This is totally different, but already the language is getting manipulated

It fails to assign motive and context.

This was a PSYOP. Psychological Operation.

But hate radio had been brainwashing the residents of Hillbilly Junction for decades before Trump happened.

CA provided the tools take it to another level of precision using digital media.

However as long as I’ve been following politics, the Republicans have been formentng hatred and division to win elections.

There's no 'liberal media' whatsoever. When the 'liberal' side of a story is told it's PURELY because it's profitable (in the net) to Media Ownership and their corporate buddies.

I absolutely KNEW our media would do nothing but soft-peddle this shit.

Rachel and Joy and Chris H (and to some extent Colbert and Oliver I'm sure) will be the ONLY people in the media that will delve into the details and give the American People THE TRUTH.

The GOP has been doing this for a long time, stoking peoples fears to make them react in a pre-planned way, look at faux news. I'm not trying to mitigate this at all though,,,,, I'm sure CA and the Russians and Dump were all in on this and we will be surprised when we find out. This is why I always push back when people want us to use some of their methods,,,,, I want nothing to do with any of that.
