(2,078 posts)In my view, Fox has degenerated from providing a legitimate and much-needed outlet for conservative voices to a mere propaganda machine for a destructive and ethically ruinous administration. When prime-time hosts--who have never served our country in any capacity--dismiss facts and empirical reality to launch profoundly dishonest assaults on the FBI, the Justice Department, the courts, the intelligence community (in which I served) and, not least, a model public servant and genuine war hero such as Robert Mueller--all the while scaremongering with lurid warnings of "deep-state" machinations-- I cannot be part of the same organization, even at a remove. To me, Fox News is now wittingly harming our system of government for profit.
As a Russia analyst for many years, it also has appalled me that hosts who made their reputations as super-patriots and who, justifiably, savaged President Obama for his duplicitous folly with Putin, now advance Putin's agenda by making light of Russian penetration of our elections and the Trump campaign. Despite increasingly pathetic denials, it turns out that the "nothing-burger" has been covered with Russian dressing all along. And by the way: As an intelligence professional, I can tell you that the Steele dossier rings true--that's how the Russians do things.. The result is that we have an American president who is terrified of his counterpart in Moscow.
I do not apply the above criticisms in full to Fox Business, where numerous hosts retain a respect for facts and maintain a measure of integrity (nor is every host at Fox News a propaganda mouthpiece--some have shown courage). I have enjoyed and valued my relationship with Fox Business, and I will miss a number of hosts and staff members. You're the grown-ups.
Also, I deeply respect the hard-news reporters at Fox, who continue to do their best as talented professionals in a poisoned environment. These are some of the best men and women in the business..
So, to all of you: Thanks, and, as our president's favorite world leader would say, "Das vidanya."

(5,492 posts)They will probably do this anyways, but most Fox News viewers will see this and go, Fake News! Another Obama suck-up and Libtard! Politics is binary in their mind - its either people like them, or the enemy.

(3,335 posts)Better late than never, but don't fool yourself into believing that was NEWS you were listening to all this time. My guess is it was the women's flesh that kept you coming back. It was designed to do just that. What other NEWS station has such scantily dressed women like that with all that flesh showing, to report the NEWS? It was designed to lure middle aged men, such as your yourself, to their porn machine, and you kept coming back because your liked it. Say Hello to the Reverend for me on Sunday.

Djou said hes most disappointed by the failure of the GOP to clearly and consistently condemn Trumps childish behavior.
Sadly today, too many Republicans either applaud Trumps tirades or greet them with silent acceptance, Djou said. This leads to an implicit ratification by the GOP of Trumps undisciplined, uninformed and unfocused leadership as a core part of the Republican Party.

(22,031 posts)Thanks, Trump.
Ralph Peters has been a hard-right hawk for decades. He writes a column for Murdoch's NY Post and it's syndicated around the country. I've read his columns for years as a primer on the opposition's views. He's intelligent but crazy. He writes well but his views are extreme.
Yet now, he and I are in agreement regarding Fox News even though I hold the extreme opposite views that he has. This is one of the crazy results of Trump's disruption of the American Life. It's disconcerting to be in agreement with a man I've disagreed with since the 1908s!
His decision to leave Fox causes me to have some respect for him. The cognitive dissonance is freaking me out!
Time to find an inebriant.

(52 posts)What is it with old white men that have taken the country down the road to perdition, that try to salvage their souls after having sold out for so long. They did what they did, and do what they do, because they enjoyed the "perks" of the job - let's see:
Bimbo land in the Fox Studios
Muy macho he-man of the universe colleagues - like Sean, Billo, and others,
Swell guys to work for like Roger, and most importantly,
A paycheck from the top dog Rupert.
And now they stare into the abyss of their errant ways and lives and seek some last minute absolution.
How many times do these fellows have to go through their un-examined lives on the TV on The FOX.
Live with it buddy. It's all yours and those you lead in the cheering chorus of 15 years of unmitigated disasters brought to the USA and the world by your fellow travelers, Dubya, Dick "5 Draft Deferments" Cheney, and now Lt. Bone Spurs Trump. Have at it with your Swift Boat buddies who denigrated first John Kerry and then President Obama. You only have your Medicare and Veterans Benefits because the aforementioned Kerry and Obama worked their asses off so you dumbasses would not be shorn of your benefits by Paulie "Ayn Rand Jr." Ryan, or Mitch "the Turtle" McConnell, whose attitude is "thanks for your service, we don't believe you earned any benefits."
WAKE UP DUMB F and SMELL THE COFFEE.
Oh yeah, and get ready for the hot time you'll have with your "buds" in the hereafter.

(7,537 posts)There was a criminal conspiracy to interfere with the elections in this country. The conspiracy included Trump and his family, the Mercers, the Russian government, members of Congress and active members of the FBI, as well as a wide web of witting and unwitting participants across multiple continents. At some point, the witting participants on our side of the water (the Mercers and their 'tools' Cambridge Analytica and Fox News) all became witting participants in a conspiracy to harm the Unites States of America. If the Russians that we just levied sanctions against are charged with a criminal conspiracy, why are their accomplices here not also being indicted? If there was a criminal conspiracy and that effort was aided by American citizens then they are also guilty of conspiracy. It may not currently be illegal for Americans to blatantly manipulate the electoral process as was done, but to do so with awareness of the involvement of foreign participants, it becomes a felony. Like the man said in the article above...these corporations are actively seeking to harm our electoral process, our government and it's ability to function and to harm our nation. At what point do they become enemies of the people?
