I know many of us grew up with that quote, but in view of DT's tweet about "the coming arms race", it bears repeating. I'm sure US arms merchants are high-fiving each other and the (Chinese) makers of US flags are contemplating adding shifts to take advantage of the hoped-for surge in "patriotism".

Historians have postulated that when these wall street gangster and their Nazi loving industrialist buddies got caught, Roosevelt threatened to put them against the wall and have them shot for sedition. That's how he leveraged the New Deal and all his social reforms..
The BBC did a wonderful radio piece on this citing that all the information on the program was gotten from the Library of Congress.. It's on the record..
