****BREAKING NOW****John Dowd Resigns as Trumps Lead Lawyer in Special Counsel Inquiry

WASHINGTON — The president’s lead lawyer for the special counsel investigation, John Dowd, resigned on Thursday, according to two people briefed on the matter, days after the president called for an end to the inquiry.

Mr. Dowd, who took over the president’s legal team last summer, had considered leaving several times in recent months and ultimately concluded that Mr. Trump was increasingly ignoring his advice, one of the people said. Mr. Trump has insisted he should sit for an interview with the special counsel’s office, even though Mr. Dowd believed it was a bad idea

Attorneys are generally good at self preservation. They know when they are about to take on a liability that not only ultimately hurts their own professional reputation, but may also sweep them up into the convoluted web of lies and corruption scandals and Special Counsel Investigations.

I'm only surprised it took him this long.

Even if he's 100% innocent (or at least deemed too stupid by the string pullers to have been included in the planning) he can't help but lie even about things like the size of his inaugural crowd. Literally no reason to lie about it, but he can't help himself.

Always a good sign when your lawyer withdraws in the midst of the proceedings. Dowd concluded, all by his little self that Trump ignores the advice of his attorneys? He could have checked with practically any of the roster of Trump's former attorneys and gotten that startling information.

Everyone's saying that Trump is his own worst enemy. I think that's kind of insulting to me.

This signals to me that Trump is set to go all in on offense. He's planning to end the investigation by hook or by crook. Most likely by crook which had to have factored into Dowd's decision to abandon ship.

Dowd is the one that jumped the gun on calling for the end of the investigation as soon as McCabe was fired.

My guess is that Dowd's ego is bruised by DiGenova being brought on after Trump said he wanted better lawyers, then denied he was changing his legal team, then changed his legal team.

I don't think it's because Dowd was the voice of reason and suddenly cottoned on to the fact that it was falling on deaf ears.

I'd think Mr Mueller is well prepared for that eventuality.

Dumpf will try to fire them at the last moment Friday night and spend the weekend spewing bullshit non-coherent reasons he had to do so.

Starting 30 seconds before Mueller brings the hammer down on his ass.

Tomorrows going to be very interesting.

I'm thinking Trump fires Mueller on Good Friday...because it's, you know, good.
