What's 3% here and there, really? Just a flesh wound. And it's Hillary's fault anyway, or Obama's. It doesn't matter, anyhow, because soon everyone's going to be exhausted from all the winning to come, once Mueller announces "no collusion."
ETA: Changed 2% to 3% at the close.

(37,320 posts)The Mueller investigation is pivoting to other areas besides Russia.
Putin would have been better off with Hillary Clinton as President. They would have come to some sort of agreement.
Sometimes you just get it wrong and getting trump is getting it wrong.

(14,565 posts)It's likely a buying opportunity. Now I just need to figure out what...and when. Fortunately I have some comparisons to rely on.
Also some of my major mutual funds like FUSVX are throwing dividends in a couple of weeks, so a downturn before it happens means you pick up more shares during reinvestment.
The 2017 run up and great January 2018 allowed plenty of resiliency.
As always, big picture scope and not obsession over details or concern about short term indications. Those flaws ruin investors and lead to threads like this.
Today doesn't matter. That's the proper mindset in the market. People who fret over today are the same type who change opinion about sports teams based on every game of every season.
MineralMan
(146,287 posts)Still, I'm sure there are buying opportunities here. I just have nothing to buy them with.
MineralMan
(146,287 posts)Just 2.93%, so that's not so bad, really. You just never get tired of so much winning on Trump's watch.

(14,565 posts)A few minutes ago. The bald guy. He is involved with this administration and I think he now runs his own mutual funds or ETFs.
The topic was the Mueller investigation as one of the factors dragging down the market. He jumped in and waved it off, saying he no longer pays attention to the news. Well no kidding. He wants to pretend the Mueller stuff shouldn't be happening and has no merit. I know damn well Trump is guilty of everything. I just don't believe Mueller will be able to prove it, not to the satisfaction of any congress.

(90,648 posts)I don't handle this part of our lives, but I have input into joint decisions. I forget what the tipping point was (there have been so many), but I said rather forcefully that we are really small fry in the scheme of things, that Trump will burn it all down, and while he may be used to bankruptcies, the nation will be wrecked by one.
Plus, we are 70. We don't personally have time to recoup losses that big.
So hubby started selling off in earnest. We are done.
