"Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and other law enforcement officials will hold a press conference Friday, March 23, 2018 for a major cyber law enforcement announcement."

It could be quite the interesting day tomorrow.

The assistant AG for national security and Treasury's top intelligence official will be at this event. If I had to guess, I'd say this will be indictments of some state-backed hackers.

The U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York will be there too. The Southern District includes Wall Street. Could be charges in a major bank hacking case?

Though the presence of Financial Intelligence and a U.S. Attorney for the SDNY makes me wonder what the Manhattan connection is.

Maybe stuff about Alfa Bank and its backchannel to Trump tower too?

The subordinates under Rosenstein all have fighting-terrorism backgrounds (except fir the SDNY district attorney).

I would view this as "our cyber efforts prevented/resolved terrorism".

But in my reading of DoJ PRs, the Southern District of New York is where many major financial crimes are prosecuted.

It may be "millions of dollars were fraudulently obtained in efforts to support terrorists".

Or "our cyber efforts broke up efforts to fund terrorists".

See https://www.justice.gov/usao/pressreleases for DoJ PRs.

And for SDNY releases, https://www.justice.gov/usao/pressreleases?f%5B0%5D=field_pr_component%3A1981 .
