Neither Republicans nor Democrats want to go to war, whether it's Iran or North Korea. Part of the reason his base voted for him was because they (for some reason) thought he was going to keep them out of wars in the middle east. If he thinks he's unpopular now, watch his approval rating plummet into the 20s if he starts a war.

No matter what people say in advance about the idea of going to war, once the shooting starts, they rally around the flag and the "leader" -- especially if he's the type who projects a strong, manly image.
This is particularly true if the "leader" can get the public to believe that America has been attacked and he's protecting them.
