(8,200 posts)I took out the time to read both of Obama's books. The major theme in both was his pathetically naive hope for constructive cooperation between the two parties. The very first night of his inauguration, the Republican's chief henchmen met in Washington taking vow to oppose any attempt at reconciliation with the intent of destroying his chance for reelection. The made good on their evil pack and opposed every effort by Obama and the Democrats to pass effective legislation. Their intent was so extreme, that totally disregarded the welfare of the nation in their pursuit to destroy Obama.
From the outset instead of holding the Republicans accountable for the Iraq disaster, he pursued in ridiculous notion that he could actually bring them to a position of mutual compromise. Consider the stark contrast between his inaction and the Republican's determination to destroy Hillary Clinton. Rather than opening investigations of the entirety of the Bush administration's out right lies to engage the nation in an unjustified invasion of Iraq, he played lets all get along and put the past behind us. The fact is that the neo-cons who dominated Bush's administration, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Bolton, ad nausea, were determined to invade Iraq long before they came into power and published their intentions in their document "Program for the next American Century" PNAC. Each and everyone of these criminals should have been brought up before investigative committees and made to answer for the deaths of over 5,000 American soldiers and thousands of who continue to suffer because of their evil actions. Now one of the more notorious of these treasonous bastards, Bolton, is being put into a position of power by the Trump administration to pursue even more potentially catastrophic blunders.
The contrast between what Obama should have done and what the Republicans continue to due in their dogged pursuit of destroying Clinton is without parallel in recent history. Although I find much that is admirable about President Obama, I contend that his lack of nerve to hold these people accountable was a major mistake. Rather than enjoying new found admiration they should be serving jail terms until they rot.

Very simply put our nation is in a fight for the survival of the constitutional principles upon which it is founded. The Bush administration should have been held accountable based solely on the facts that their actions were based on outright lies. It is the Republicans who have pursued fascist tactics to divide the nation which was founded on the principle of E pluribus unum (From many one.) This not a recent problem but can be traced to the Nixon administration which was founded on the Southern Strategy and continued until the present. The goal is the total discreding of the Democrats and liberalism as un-Amrican and ungodly immoral threats to real Americans. Exactly the same tactics that the Nazis used to come to power.

(8,200 posts)Here is what I can only determine is that you are an apologist for the Republicans and fail to desire to condemn them for their fascists tactics. Goodbye and have a nice day.

(51,432 posts)I didn't get it and thought there actually was a real TV station with that name. I love the "I Hate Fox News" t-shirt that someone gave to me at the border wall, protest one week ago (it seems like a month ago since so much happens in Bizarro World on a daily basis). I am wearing it to the March For Our Lives on Sat.

Much more simple to digest that way. Very efficient because it also serves the Republicon congress.

(6,916 posts)the smart, strategic people in the GOP are the billionaire donors. The "intellectuals" and politicians are all stupid useful idiots, installed by the billionaires so they can be manipulated. Ever listen to Meadows or Jeffords or Mulvaney speak? They're morons and tools of the Koches. Just like Bolton.

and more powerfully:
Excerpt
"Mr. Chairman, I have to say that after poring over the hundreds of pages of testimony and you know, I wasnt here for those hearings, but I did my penance, I read all of it I believe that John Bolton would have been fired if hed worked for a major corporation. This is not the behavior of a true leader who upholds the kind of democracy that President Bush is seeking to promote globally. This is not the behavior that should be endorsed as the face of the United States to the world community and the United Nations. Rather, Mr. Chairman, it is my opinion that John Bolton is the poster child of what someone in the diplomatic corps should not be."

(713 posts)These people are Authoritarians, Fascists, and have contempt for Democracy. Hitler originally came to power through election, and then began consolidating power through non-democratic, authoritarian means. These people need to be stopped before they start a Nuclear War. November 2018 can not come soon enough. We need a Blue Wave to wash these Fascists out of power.

It might be time to realistically consider that eventuality because to not think about is to not do anything about it.
