Ted Cruz says that right now Dems will crawl over broken glass to vote. If Trump is indicted wont that cause Repubs to also be super motivated to vote? Manaforts candidate Victor Yanukovich in Ukraine ran against prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko saying she was crooked. I bet his rallies had chants lock her up. After winning Yanukovich tried her, convicted her, sent her to prison. But that turned out disastrously. Tymoshenko supporters went insane, took up arms, ran Yanukovich out of the country into exile in Russia. Ukraine, weak after that was invaded by Russia and split into two. Bringing criminal charges against Julia destroyed Yanukovich and destroyed Ukraine. Would indictment of Trump also have bad unintended consequences? Would it be like poking a stick in a hornets nest?

(6,916 posts)Indictments will hit some of them like a ton of bricks. Fox news support is starting to crack: Zucker called them propaganda and said everyone knows that. Ralph Peters (suspended because he was too conservative) quit and called them propaganda.
The propaganda bubble is teetering. When it pops it will pop with a bang. Take even 5% of voters out of the GOP base and this president is sunk.

(7,947 posts)They need the promise of power to care. If Trump's impeached or indicted, otherwise not running, they'll think that everyone's the enemy, and angrily stay home.
They have little loyalty to the GOP.
Most GOP voters would still vote for the GOP candidate, but without the Trumpists, they won't win. I hope.

So Trumpsters will still have a Trump to vote for.
I figure odds look good for us now, so I dont want to reshuffle the deck

(841 posts)I think it would cause a total collapse of support among marginal Trump supporters. The hardcore Trump supporters will never abandon him but those are not the people we need to worry about. The marginal voters are the ones who will sink him if they jump ship and most of what I read indicates that they are already in the process of becoming disillusioned with Trump.
