That seems to be the thing over the past decade or two. Call in a law firm.

Why does anything think a law firm would be some independent party? Their role is to advise clients how to do what it is they want to do without breaking the law. That's fine as far as it goes, but those of us in the reality-based universe pretty much realize that this means they are paid to keep their clients out of jail for breaking the law - in spirit if not in word. So why does anyone think these non-paragons of non-virtue are somehow the go-to auditors?

Also, who's paying them? Well, shit, if they want to be paid, they certainly aren't going to conclude that their clients are ratfuckers and crooks. Might cause some consternation by the bill payers, i.e., the crooks and ratfuckers.

So, this is fucked.

Here's the audit I want to see, in the UK, US, and elsewhere. Federal police and security agencies investigating the shit out of them, complete with subpoenas, search warrants, and the money and the resources to investigate, indict, and prosecute.
