It was conducted how long ago? And has been through production, editing, marketing, the whole shebang (pun intended). Point being, lots of people have seen it already. If there was something truly Earth shattering, someone would have leaked it. It still might be a fun watch, but dont get your hopes up for anything you probably dont already know.

(54,369 posts)Is that the Republicans have not mounted a full-scale legal assault. If there had been something in there that would have prompted cries of impeachment from Republican ranks, they would have ordered the National Guard to attack with tanks.

i think it might be more about stuff that is personally embarrassing that trump doesn't want revealed.

(54,369 posts)The only stuff he is scared of having revealed is illegal financial shenanigans that could land him in jail.
And Ryan's Republican House STILL wouldn't impeach him, even if he were sitting in a cell, UNLESS.....all major polls showed Ryan losing his House seat. THEN he would allow impeachment to go forward, even if it was for littering.

her making allegations, and maybe a video of her hooked up to a lie dector machine.

(54,369 posts)Only Republicans are allowed to act like Trump. Jimmy Carter almost got his campaign derailed for admitting that he had "lusted after other women."
The double standard in our country is staggering. A Republican could sell Hawaii to the Chinese, and as long as he says the money is for reducing the budget deficit, and Fox says it was the right move, the Republican base would applaud it.

Oh, and precisely.
You might be wrong that "lots of people have seen it already." 60 Minutes has a reputation for running a tight, compartmentalized operation. There isn't a lot of "cross pollination" even within the show. Most likely, the only people outside of the production team that have seen the interview are CBS's lawyers! When they've had other controversial interviews or stories, the only teasers have generally been on CBS itself. Furthermore, there wouldn't really be any incentive for someone on the 60 Minutes team to leak anything. By the way, I don't watch TV but how has CBS been promoting the broadcast?
The reason CBS didn't air the interview immediately was simply because Ms. Daniels probably made lots of statements about people, places and times that needed to be researched and reported out before CBS would be confident of the veracity of her statements. Undoubtably, there will be things edited out of the broadcast interview but again, good journalism would require independent confirmation of things she said. Of course, by holding back an additional week, CBS builds the drama, don't they?
Anyway, I'll agree with you that we probably already know most anything she could say. The real interesting aspect of her story to me is the $130,000 hush payment. If this turns out to be a campaign finance violation, it could open the whole financial can of worms against Trump. If it were to happen because of a porn actress, the irony would be delicious.
