Trump toady Pete Hegseth on Fox & Friends doesn't want lectures from children on 2nd Amendment

Note -- as posted earlier, Hegseth is rumored to be among the possible replacements for Shulkin, who will likely be out soon as VA Secretary.

At the moment Hegseth's job seems to be to kiss Trump's ass as much as possible:

Fox & Friends this morning covered the March for Our Lives across the nation yesterday, criticizing some of the remarks by students and activists.

Pete Hegseth said he doesn’t think young people should be “lecturing” anyone else on the Second Amendment:

“I feel for these kids from Parkland high school. They’ve obviously been affected. They have a right to speak out and they should. But forgive me if I don’t want a lesson on the Second Amendment on a 16-year-old. Forgive me if I don’t want to watch a 9-year-old tell me that her dream is a world without guns. My world––I want a world without Islamists! I wish that was true too. It’s just not the case. The reality is the Second Amendment’s not about hunting, it’s not about self-defense only, it’s about free people and checks on a tyrannical government… they shouldn’t be giving me lessons on the Second Amendment, they should be in civics class.”

Hegseth said after watching marches from yesterday, he decided to donate to the NRA this morning.

He also said marchers should be “thanking President Trump” for actions he’s taken on gun violence.

Hegseth’s name was floated as a possible VA secretary after Trump was elected, but veterans’ groups — including the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America and Amvets — opposed his nomination.

Hegseth for years worked for Koch brothers- and Republican-funded activist groups and think tanks that wanted all veterans to have the option of having private health care.

Critics said that would take money away from the VA and decimate the hospitals it runs.

“If Trump picks Hegseth, it’s going to be war,” Paul Rieckhoff, executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, told the New York Times in December 2016.

“He would be a radical departure from what the VA has been for generations.”
