Once there Donnie be home free? I don't think so! The RW morality cops were not subdued in bringing up Gennifer Flowers repeatedly during the '92 primaries. Ms. Flowers being a consensual partner from years earlier who was never offered hush money as damage control.

It's some variation of one of these:

It happened 12 years ago! Who cares??

Yeah, but Clinton did it IN the White House! This was WAY before Trump was elected!

The gist of it is, of course, that anything that Bill Clinton has ever done will always be dredged up and held against him and Hillary and ANY Democrat, really, but Trump (of course) gets a pass. This will never, ever convince any of them to drop their support of Trump.

Republicans still bring up Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick, and point to Robert Byrd being in the KKK in the 1940s as proof he (and other Democrats) hate black people.

As opposed to the act itself. Correct me if I'm wrong. Definitely not defending what they did, but nuance matters especially if we want to claim we reason with the relevant facts. Otherwise, they can dismiss our arguments even if they bring nothing to the conversation themselves.

Just lying about it (to the press, for instance) would not have been impeachable.
