There are elements in the US who are determined to make this country a nation run on Christian principles. They like Trump because he appears to be willing to help them in their cause. The have an insatiable thirst to make this a nation run on biblical principles with a Christian styled constitution.
They hide behind freedom of religion as they connive to take over institutions of government. The passage of aso many anti women reproductive laws is just on part of their entire agenda. The openly anti LGBT agenda becomes more clear with the new military ban for LGBT which was written by them. They want the country purged of these people in reality.
They believe that religion should be government. That there should be a marriage of religion and government just like there is in Islamic states like Iran. The citizenry must live by the dictums of the 10 Commandments and not the Bill of Rights.

(82,849 posts)Principles like serve one another in love, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, house the homeless, and take care of the sick, the widow and the orphan? Build a society where those who have much do not have too much and those who have little do not have too little? A place where lenders lend without worrying about whether they can be repaid, and where if someone sues you for your coat, you give them your shirt as well?
Those Christian principles? Or are you talking about naked oppression with a thin veneer of godly overtones that don't stand up to the least scrutiny? Because one of those things is not like the other.

(28,270 posts)Yes the religious right republican evangelicals want to force a theocracy on America but it has absolutely NOTHING to do with Jesus Christ as you so clearly spelled out in your post.
The fake Republican Jesus they worship is a fraud and a cover for power and money mad ravenous creatures that want an American Inquisition and dictatorship in this country.

(82,849 posts)While others would really like to try to force me to subscribe to their belief system under pain of ostracism (at least) or death, I make no such demands on them.
And that's a very big difference. Too bad so many people can't quite make that out, having eyes but unable to see.

(94,333 posts)If you believe in the social welfare principles you espoused AS A MATTER OF CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY, and advocate for taxes to pay for them, you're imposing your religious principles on those opposed to them.
I, for one, am happy to advocate for them, just not because "god says so".

That's an almost comically high purity test right there.

(94,333 posts)The problem with forcing beliefs based on religion is that "god says so" doesn't allow for a thoughtful debate of the pros and cons.

(10,602 posts)This radical element is clearly determined. Under Trump radical Christian inroads have already been made. And he encourages them every day. Pence was placed as VP for a reason. And he secretly advances their agenda.
The anti LGBTQ agenda clearly wants these people either in jail or out of the US or in a position where they have no say politically. These radical Christians really have pogrom in mind if they ever get real power.
Belief for them is not a matter of choice. It is a requirement for political participation in their kind of country.
