My understanding of leadership has finally been vindicated!

In grad school back in the early ‘90’s I was given a definition of leadership, by an instructor I otherwise couldn’t stand, that completely resonated with me. I went on to use it when I taught business and management courses for several local colleges/universities, and was always disappointed by my students’ non-reaction to it. Nevertheless, I persisted...

On Saturday, however, I saw it play out on a grand scale. I wept when I witnessed the efficacy of my long-held, but lonely belief that a leader can be anyone who, grounded in hope and together with followers, acts with courage to make an inauthentic situation authentic.
