"People often ask why I love elephants so much. Zongoloni's story is a big reason why."

People often ask why I love elephants so much. Zongoloni's story is a big reason why. Her mom was shot by a poacher, but she refused to leave her side. A member of the @DSWT team was moved to tears by her dedication.

Today, she's a @DSWT orphan.

Founded in 1977 by Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick D.B.E, in honour of the memory of her late husband, famous naturalist and founding Warden of Tsavo East National Park, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the DSWT claims a rich and deeply rooted family history in wildlife and conservation.

I actually just yesterday spent a long time on their website, reading the tales of the elephants they have rescued.

namely because we choose to focus on our potential alone. However, when you look at the full spectrum of homo sapiens' presence and effect, our unwarranted arrogance is apparent.

I see glimmers of our better selves, of our noble aspects and it's bolstering. Unfortunately it's also an outlier.

We are capable of so much more. So, so much.
